Matterport Capture and Floor Plans for 204 Units on a South Coast Marina Development

Every internal space across two residential blocks, 197 apartments and 7 commercial units, captured in Matterport ahead of facade remediation works, giving the contractor a dated record of each home and a dataset that floor plans can be drawn from without a second visit.

The Challenge

A contractor preparing for external remediation works on two large residential blocks needed a complete, dated record of the internal condition of every apartment and commercial unit before work began. With 197 homes occupied by residents and leaseholders, access had to be coordinated carefully, and any survey method that required repeat visits was not acceptable.

What We Did

Our team captured all 197 apartments and 7 commercial units with Matterport Pro cameras, working to an access schedule agreed with the resident liaison team so that each home was visited once.
Each unit was delivered as a hosted 3D tour with the dollhouse view, floor plan view and measurement tools, giving the contractor and the building owner a shared, dated record of every space.
Because the capture is complete, floor plans, sections and elevations can be drawn from the existing data at any point without a second visit. The contractor has since asked for 1:100 floor plans of both blocks, which will be produced from the scan data as DWG and PDF.
The tours remain hosted so that they can be referred back to throughout the works and at completion.

The Outcome

A single site programme covered every unit, and any drawings that follow come from the same data with no return visits.
Residents are disturbed once, not repeatedly.
The pre-works record protects both contractor and owner if any condition question is raised later.
This followed a full drawing pack we produced for the same contractor on a fourteen-storey office building in Leeds.
