15 Floor Plans and Internal Elevations for a 14-Storey Leeds Office Building

A complete drawing pack for a fourteen-storey city-centre office: fifteen floor plans from lower ground to the thirteenth floor, a roof plan and 2D sectional elevations of the internal window wall, all produced from scan data.

The Challenge

The contractor needed accurate existing-condition drawings of a fourteen-storey city-centre office building in Leeds to plan and price facade works. A conventional measured survey of that many floors would have been slow, and the facade team also needed elevations of the internal window wall, which a standard survey would not have provided.

What We Did

1. The building was scanned floor by floor, producing a registered dataset covering every level from lower ground to the roof.
2. From that data we drew fifteen floor plans and a roof plan at 1:100, to a drawing standard agreed with the contractor before work started.
3. Because the facade works focused on the window wall, we also produced 2D sectional elevations showing the internal face of the window wall on each level.
4. Topographical drawings of the site were produced separately for the external works.
5. When the design developed, the drawings and 3D data were updated under a small follow-on instruction rather than a fresh survey.

The Outcome

• A complete, consistent drawing pack delivered from one survey programme.
• Elevations of the internal window wall gave the facade team information a standard measured survey would not have provided.
• Updates were made from the existing data at a fraction of the original cost.
• The contractor went on to commission Matterport capture of 204 units on a second development on the south coast.
